This is an extremely interesting article that I’ve been editing for NPEC. It has vast incites into the shift of US control in space. The implications that it has for the world cannot be ignored, as the author explains the US is steadily losing its hegemonic position in space to bipolar system of the US and China. Another interesting point is the projected idea of how the US plans to handle the issue. The logic of the US plan, I hope, is only for the short-term fix. Check it out and other documents from my works website.
So I decided I’d update everyone on what has been happening, as well as some of the scheduled events that will be taking place prior and during my internship. Currently I have been packing and boxing things up for D.C.. I have to be there on the 19th, so I am leaving early that morning. At present the first major events are the orientation into the International Affairs program.
It is being held at the World Bank. For those that don’t know what the World Bank is I’ll give a short explanation. The World Bank is basically an international financial institution that provides loans to developing countries. The name World Bank was actually a nickname that was given to the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) by a journalist. It is one of the many institutions created by the 1944 Bretton Woods Conference. The World Bank Group comprises the International Development Association (IDA), IBRD, and two other organizations. This will be the day after I arrive, which is the 20th.
Each Monday is when certain program events (as well as assignments) are scheduled a few of which include: lectures on the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict at John Hopkins, USAID, Human Rights in Darfur, it also includes visits to the embassies of Indonesia, Jordan, and Ecuador.
